Happy Birthday, Byron. Hau’oli lā hānau!

My father-in-law, Byron Bender.

@postaday 222; #postaday2011.

Today my father-in-law is 82. He is sharp, smart, wise, kind, gracious, funny, interesting, creative, inquisitive, and loving.

Byron and Lois have five children, four daughters and a son, who is the youngest. I was the lucky gal that got to marry John! I’ve always felt comfortable with this family and well loved. They love our children. I’m grateful and very fortunate to have married into such a fine family. I can see these people in my children’s mannerisms and looks, so lovely to behold.

When the whole family gets together, when the daughters from the Mainland come with their families, it’s a fun time for me. Why? Because somehow it always ends up that we in-laws, or as we’ve dubbed ourselves, “The Outlaws,” get to have some fun together, too. Fingers are crossed that they might get to visit again for the holidays later this year.

I could tell you more about Byron, but you could look here on Wikipedia, or you could look here for a University of Hawaii page, or you could look here for his take on morphological paradoxes.

Dinner conversations, as you can imagine, get quite interesting! It’s a pleasure to be his one and only daughter-in-law, err, outlaw!

No ride today. Earache is crapping me out.
