I have rumbly tumbleness inside, making me very uncomfortable. It started while I was on my ride, after I climbed Kamiloiki and Makapu’u hills. It necessitated a bathroom stop at Aina Haina and at Wailupe on the way back.
I rose at 5 a.m. and I rode alone. I didn’t make any short cuts except that I didn’t pause anywhere to take pictures. None from Makapu’u, none from Diamond Head, none from Kapiolani Park. I just wanted to get done, get home, get in the shower and get dressed. After this, a nap. Seltzer and grape juice.
I passed my usual stop at Diamond Head and circled Kapiolani Park to climb Monsarrat to 18th Avenue where I turned left and proceeded to follow that part of the course for the Na Wahine Festival. I passed John and his Honolulu Marathon Clinic companions. I turned at one of the side streets to go back toward Diamond Head and Triangle Park to do one more circuit before heading back home to Hawaii Kai. As luck would have it, there was John and I got him to watch my bike while I used the facilities at Wailupe. When I came out his running group was teasing him about having a bicycle. I thanked him and told him not to let his wife find out, hahahaha.
My average moving speed was down a notch this morning, but I credit that with having climbed four hills. My speed topped out at 40.4 as I was sailing down from Makapu’u with a jerk in a white BMW practically up my ass. Let me give you a visual: predator chasing prey? cross-species copulation? Self-deluded moron on his way to church? Or maybe he also needed to use the bathroom!

My mom thinks I’m training for a marathon, which surprises me because I thought she knew that since I burst my Achille’s tendon last year, I can’t run. I’m doing a swim and spin, which is a swim and a bicycle ride.
