Well, John C Mayer has departed the realm of social media, FOR NOW, and who can blame a guy who is in the spotlight for nights on end for wanting some rest and relaxation, peace and quiet, alone time?
Whatever it takes to re energize the soul, to go to the well of creativity, to work on the closer relationships, right?
I enjoy his music and hope that this decision for seclusion results in another great album. He’s young. He’ll raise hell and have fun. He’ll break some hearts, get his own trampled, maybe even REALLY fall in love and settle down.
I think I like him because he seems to have an old soul. Or at least, that’s what I get out of his music. I don’t expect anyone to understand that. I don’t expect anyone to care what I think about him. To me it doesn’t matter how old or young the fingers dancing along the frets are. It’s the feeling that the two of you know what it’s like to have a heart dragged through hell or thrown and wrapped a few times around the telephone wires like a pair of sneakers. It’s the sadness everyone sees. Split-screen sadness.
Sometimes you get tired of everyone knowing that you’ve been slow dancing in a burning room.
