Dinner weirdness: Spaghetti tacos

Tuesday I read a story on the New York Time’s website about spaghetti tacos, a phenomenon believed to have been launched by a Nickelodeon television show called iCarly.

We’ve never watched the show, but whenever I see  a recipe in the NYT that I might easily be able to emulate, I’m there. Plus, Sophie had been hankering for tacos and she’s always game for spaghetti. Charlotte is uninspired by interesting food.

spaghetti taco, ole!
Spaghetti tacos, ole!

Rather than go straight spaghetti in the taco shells, I browned ground turkey with taco seasonings and put that in the taco, too. I mean, after all, have you ever had a taco with just one ingredient? If so, my sympathies! I layered the taco with shredded cheese, some spaghetti tossed in sauce, the taco meat, and more spaghetti toss. It was oddly tasty.

The kids got a kick out of it. But after Sophie’s first two, she just had the meat on spaghetti; Charlotte had the one taco and then naked spaghetti.

It was fun, but I don’t think spaghetti tacos is going into the dinner rotation.  They went over like a wet burrito.
