A night off

#postaday 274; #postaday2011.

Last night I gave myself the night off from swimming. I have to own this, especially since John sent me a text last night asking how my swim went. Oh, uhm… Here’s my schedule:

You mean they're not paperweights?
  • MWF #5kin100days workout.
  • T-Th: masters swimming.
  • SS: bicycle.
  • When possible: Elliptical at 24-Hour Fitness Hawaii Kai.

But then that thing called real life gets in the way. Last night I stayed home, and we Benderettes went to bed around 9 p.m. Did any of my Words With Friends or Word Feud friends notice? Maybe so. I needed it, and I felt fresh when I woke up this morning.

This weekend I won’t be able to ride on Saturday because of a community service project I’m working on with my colleagues. And weekends are crazy because our children are in robotics, take music lessons, and meet with their groups for science fair preparations. We try to squeeze in things like family meals, at the dinner table, at home. It’s not as easy as you might think.

I guess I forgive me for being such a slacker. I always feel like my ass gets broader every time I let myself take it easy. I wish I were like you people (YOU PEOPLE!) for whom fitness endeavors come easy. You with your single-digit body fat percentages. You who think spraying a pan with low-fat cooking spray is GREAT! You who grimace when your ass nudges up toward a size 6. You who can run on the treadmill and drink from a water bottle at the same time! What’s it like to be you?

Ahh, well. I guess I should check this email I got from 24-Hour Fitness yesterday.
