Haha. Short entry tonight. I could wax sentimental about NASA’s curtains on its Space Shuttle act, but I do agree that in order for space exploration to continue, attention must be placed upon developing new hardware. I worked on the first flight, a lowly airman in a California desert, plotting its flight around Earth.
Now I have a daughter I like to refer to as my little Space Cadette, who’s developing an interest in astrobiology and searching for life in outer space. That’s my girl! Maybe someday she can take my dust on a mission to somewhere out there.
Tonight I walked. John and I were talking about my fitness regimen: The swimming, the elliptical, the bicycling — and we determined that I needed to pound pavement to work on my bones. I hear so many horror stories about osteoporosis drugs, and hormones for menopausal women, that I want to do everything I can to preserve myself holistically. I’m already white knuckling through hot flashes. I even get them while I’m swimming!
I’ve been protecting my Achilles so much that I would say I’ve “spoilt” my right foot, and I’ve let myself off the hook on some hard work. Tonight I had originally planned to walk the Hawaii Kai Costco Loop, which is 3 miles, but when I got onto Lunalilo Home Road, I decided to stick to my own little loop of Kaumakani Street. Good thing, as my Achilles did complain a bit. But I had my tunes and I got into a rhythm and I huffed and puffed going up the hills. Yes. There. Are. Hills. And dogs.
And because it was short of an hour, I decided to fill the two green cans and drag them to the curb for tomorrow’s pickup. It was just what was on the side yard, so John shouldn’t get all excited, Mr. Yard Work Avoider himself, heh!
