Monday morning admiration

@postaday 81; #postaday2011

I like Mondays. I like Fridays, too, but Monday is the day I can start a lot of things fresh. The desk is neat. The in basket is manageable. I get up and get out of the house without much trouble.

Part of the ease-into-Monday ease is the fact that I don’t get up for a morning workout at 24-Hour Fitness Hawaii Kai. I sleep in until 4:45 a.m. until 3:30 a.m. I get dressed, feed the cats, throw together lunch and get out the door, hopefully, before 5:55 a.m. Why? Because so many people leave on the hour or on the half hour. Smooth sailing through traffic into town today. Why? Because the University of Hawaii is on spring break. Today my girls went back to school after their spring break. Imagine if all spring breaks in Hawaii occurred simultaneously!

The best thing ever is checking the calendar and seeing no meetings scheduled for the day. Translation?  Power through the assignments, no meeting prep required, just push through as far as possible without losing steam. Starbucks venti skinny caramel macchiato at my side, I’m good. I’m good.

Mondays are also a good day to start fresh on the health front. Two apples, a radish, two baby avocados, a baby head of lettuce, sliced tomato, some sour dough bread ends and salmon cream cheese got tossed into my lunch box. I can nosh on this stuff all day and feel good about it. I try to force myself on a lunch time march, to soak up some fresh air, tempt fate while crossing intersections, to count my blessings as I pass the neighborhood souls lost in a stupor of drugs or mental illness.

And I look for those people with whom I’d love to share more than a smile, but often that’s all anyone has time for. Thank goodness I can hint my admirations here. Just one of those things that if you bother to visit to read, you find. If you got this far, count yourself among those whom I admire.

Love, me.
